One of the things that makes portrait photography very interesting is that it is not always as straight forward as one would expect. It is really a shame that most portraits we see online from the "experts" are of people with the perfect measurements, perfect facial features and perfect skin tone. But if you live in the world I live in, most people around me do not fit that mold. I think the pros do a great disservice to the photography community when they do not showcase subject who do not fit in the "perfect" mode. Read more »

Recently, this site posted a poll for their readers asking them "What percentage of your photos are portraits?" About 44% of readers responded that they spend between 1 and 25% taking portraits. While those results may be due to just a general lack of interest, it could also be due to certain fear of putting your photography skills to the test. In this post, we would like to address both.
